A Simple Reminder: Breast Cancer

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, I’m reminded how easy it is to move through the year with good intentions but delayed actions. We mean to schedule that check-up or remind a loved one to do the same. But somehow, life takes over.
If that’s you, consider this your reminder: Go Get Checked. Don’t let the year end without taking that step.
This cause is personal for me. My mom passed away from breast cancer, and her faith and strength still inspire me daily. I also have friends who have fought, or are still fighting, this disease. Some are thriving in remission, others are still in treatment, while others have lost the battle. Each one a powerful example of grit and grace.
Their stories, while marked by different paths and outcomes, speak to the complexities of the disease. There are over a dozen types of Breast Cancer, each with its own subtypes. Likewise, there is no single narrative, no predictable pattern. Yet through every experience, there’s a thread of hope, strength, and unwavering faith that unites them all.
Faith teaches us to trust.
Fortitude helps us face what we fear. Foresight reminds us to act before it’s too late.
So, as this month ends, let’s carry its message forward. Encourage your sister, your daughter, your friend, or yourself, to make the appointment. Because the strongest form of awareness is action, and the most powerful expression of love is care, the kind that could save a life.
